Juana Sagaray


Juana Maria Sagaray Covault was born in Maturin. Many people consider her an excellent professor because of she has achieved the greatest goals for a teacher. The first thing that it could be said about this admirable professor is that she obtained her English teacher degree in 1995 at UPEL IPM and she continued her professional career doing postgraduates courses.  The first one she achieved was her Master in Latin American Literature in 2002 at UPEL.  After that, she did her PHD or doctorate in Education, her dissertation is a reader response Criticism at UPEL IPM.

She also had taken some courses out of Venezuela, one of them was about   “American literature” at Louisville University, Kentucky USA from June to August 2007, the second was “An English course for teachers” in San Carlos Costa Rica in 2005 and she attended to the international TESOL in Seattle Washington State, USA in 2007. 

During her professional development she had gotten important charges in the University (IPM) , She has been a professor at the Linguistics Department since1996 until present, She was leading to diploma course coordinator at UPEL IPM from 2005 to February 2007. She was a researcher attached to context on July 1997 to June 2002 and she was a member of the editorial board of the journal texture in 2002. 

As you can notice, Juana Sagaray has been an important professor in our university, her career and academic formation helped her to achieve important charges at Upel.  She was the Foreign Language Program coordinator from 2007-to 2009 and she has been the Linguistics Department chief since 2009 until present.

 Nowadays, she is an American literature teacher at UPEL.  Juana Sagaray had the opportunity to participate and attend to a lot of conferences such as:  The fifteenth international congress of continuity and change on literature, culture and image at the Michoacán University in San Nicolas de Hidalgo Mexico from 29 to 31 October 2008, her paper was about “La mujer latinoamericana en caramelo o puro cuento”  by Sandra Cisneros, and she also participated in the ninth update conference called “Linguistic and literary research to opening footpaths which was held at UPEL IPM Maturin 21 to 23 April 2009.

         She had the opportunity to participate in the sixth day research and postgraduate at UPEL IPM Maturin with her work about “Que Leen los Maestros Monaguenses” in 1996. In 1999, she participated in the first day of interaction with the written text at the UPEL IPM from 22 to April 24, she was in the fourth event to update linguistics globalization of reading and writing at UPEL IPM in 2001, and her presentation was about “Applying some dramatic principles to improve the role playing as a communicative technique“

The professor Juana Sagaray also attended and participated in the sixth update call “Linguistic literature and teacher training” at the UPEL IPM, where she presented her work about “How to plan an English class” from 18 to March 20, 2004 and in 2005, she presented her work about the essay as an expression of subjectivity in the first meeting of strategies for learning English as a foreign language at the UPEL IPM in 2005, and in 2006 she presented a work about “The value of reading literary text in the formation” in the third national meeting of doctoral studies in education training and research in 2006..
